Ashtanga Yoga Workshop With Clayton Horton Pranayama & Meditation Workshop: Date: JAN 20 (SAT) Time: 3pm (1.5 – 2 hours) Pre-Pay Cost: 25USD (please pay by JAN 9th) Drop-In Cost: 30USD Description: In this workshop, we will work with the elements of breath, posture, mantra, mudra and bandha to cultivate stillness, peace of mind and mental clarity. Suitable for practitioners of all levels. The workshop will begin with a brief discussion and will conclude with a seated meditation. Please be advised not to eat 3 hours before this workshop. Ashtanga Intensive Date: JAN 15, 16, 17, 18 (MON-THUR) Time: 6:30-8:30pm Pre-Pay Cost: 120USD (please pay by JAN 9th) Drop-In Cost: 35USD per day Description: This Intensive Workshop series will focus on the Primary Series as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The Intensive is suitable for Beginning and Intermediate students who wish to develop their Ashtanga practice, as well as aspiring Teachers who wish to deepen their knowledge of Yoga. Ashtanga Intensive Workshop Topics: Introduction to Mysore Style Asana Classes Ujayi Pranayama Tristana: Bhandas, Vinyassa, Dristhi 8 Limbs of Ashtanga Yoga Kleshas, Vayus, Chakras, Nadis Yoga Sutras of Patanjali Fundamental teachings of the Bhagavad Gita Adjustments: Giving and Receiving Alignment & Technique Injury Prevention & Intelligent Practice Chanting, Invocations, Mantra, Kirtan History of Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois Students will receive a comprehensive Manual. Ashtanga 101 (Fundamentals) Date: JAN 18 (THUR) Time: 9:30am (2-2.5 hours) Pre-Pay Cost: 30USD (please pay by JAN 9th) Drop-In Cost: 35USD Description: In this workshop, we will explore the fundamentals of Breath, Sun Salutations, Drishti (gazing point), basic seated postures and some finishing postures. Suitable for beginners, advanced beginners and those new to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Evolutions and examples of the Jump Back and the Jump Through of the Ashtanga vinyasa system will be covered in detail. Technique and alignment of postures will be refined, allowing for efficiency of muscular force and correct breathing. Opening and finishing mantras will be explained. This is a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the self paced, personal practice called "Mysore Style" Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore South India. 2 - 2.5 hours. Ashtanga Led Primary Series Date: JAN 20 (SAT) Time: 9:30 – 11:30 Pre-Pay Cost: 25USD (please pay by JAN 9th) Drop-In Cost: 30USD Description: This workshop will be an opportunity for students to experience the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga in a relaxed and informative manner. Aspects of vinyasa, dristhi, bandhas, mudras, and yoga philosophy will be presented. Modifications will be given for the more difficult poses in the Series. Suitable for students of all levels who have an established and regular Yoga practice. Mysore Class Date: JAN 15, 16, 17, 18 (MON-THUR) Time: 6:30-8:30am Pre-Pay Cost: 25USD per day or 100USD (please pay by JAN 9th) Drop-In Cost: 30USD Description: In Mysore-style class, each student is taught individually within a group setting and instructions are given individually. With the guidance and hands-on adjustments of the teacher, each student receives the attention necessary to learn, work, progress and practice the Ashtanga sequence at his or her own pace. Attending Mysore-style class is a unique experience that enhances your yoga practice and serves as an adjunct to attending led classes. This workshop is an opportunity to explore this style of teaching, learning, and practicing in an intensive workshop. Students may arrive at 6am, but instruction begins at 6:30. Clayton Horton is the Director of Greenpath Yoga Studio in San Francisco California. He has been a student of yoga for over 19 years and began teaching in 1996. His practice is deeply rooted in the Ashtanga Tradition and Greenpath meditation. Clayton is a Founding Board Member of the Green Yoga Association. He is a student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and the Greensufi. Clayton received Formal Authorization to teach Ashtanga Yoga from the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute of Mysore, South India in 2003.![]() |
