As a motherly soul and long time practitioner, I encourage students to go slow, listen to their bodies, stay connected, and practice patience. The practice deepens over time, and it is a practice that does take time to develop. Our bodies have so much going on, and moving slowly and mindfully, holding poses, working with proper form, helps us to connect to what is happening inside, not only physically, but mentally as well. Yoga is a practice of getting to know yourself better on every level, and to become more accepting of your limitations. When we practice without "needing" to be good at yoga, we learn to let go of expectations and instead enjoy what is...and what we are able to do on each given day. |
